Tough Questions

  • Will I get to travel the world in the Army?

The Army currently serves in 56 countries and if you join there's a good chance you'll get to see quite a few of them. There is also the opportunity for sponsored adventure training and sporting activities abroad.

  • How fit do I need to be?

Let's be clear, physical fitness is important in every Army role. But don't be put off - the progressive training you receive is designed to prepare you for the challenges ahead. That said you must also help yourself by exercising regularly well before you arrive. The fitter you are the easier you will find the training.

  • How much will I get paid first-up as a soldier?

All recruits start on the same wage regardless of their age. So based on a 30-day month, as a recruit you can expect approximately £780 paid into your bank account. This is after tax, National Insurance, food and accommodation charges have been stopped from your pay.

And alongside sport, there's Adventurous Training, where activities like climbing, mountaineering, kayaking and sailing are all awaiting you.
