W (Westminster Dragoons) Squadron, The Royal Yeomanry

About us
As part of the Royal Armoured Corp, our Unit’s role is based around the ‘sabre’ (fighting) troop of vehicles. Training with W Squadron in your spare time, you will learn to drive many types of armoured, 4X4 and other Army vehicles.

The Royal Yeomanry specialises in reconnaissance. That means we go out and find the enemy – either using vehicles or going in under cover of darkness, on foot. So you’ll also learn to use many different weapons, the latest military radios, and to detect, identify and deal with the effects of CBRN weapons (weapons of mass destruction). The Royal Yeomanry is also the only TA unit that specialises in CBRN.

As well as our ‘sabre’ soldiers, we’re also looking to train signallers (radio operators), medics, clerks, HGV drivers, recruiting staff, physical trainers and more. Many soldiers of W Squadron have served in Iraq, Afghanistan and beyond: crewing armoured fighting vehicles, peace-keeping, carrying out CBRN operations, calling in air-strikes and other vital tasks.

Why not come and see us? This is a great opportunity to join Central London’s only part-time Royal Armoured Corp Squadron – an exciting Unit with a distinguished history serving Britain all over the world.
