253 (North Irish) Medical Regiment
253 (North Irish) Medical Regiment provides medical services in support of Army exercises and operations all over the world. Our expertise spans everything from first aid to the treatment and evacuation of serious casualties.
Whether defending the UK's interests at home and abroad or providing humanitarian and peace-keeping duties, the role of Army Medical Services (AMS) is crucial - and the TA provides two thirds of this capability.
Our task is to supply Role 1 & 2 Primary Health Care and Emergency Medical Support to deployed troops; however, we often also treat the local civilian population. We collect, treat, stabilize and evacuate casualties to the Field Hospital, all in support of the overall medical plan. We must, however be prepared to work anywhere, and have in the past provided medical cover for air shows, parades and other civic functions. There is also the opportunity to travel the world on expeditions. Our troops have visited: Africa, Austria, America, Peru, Canada, Chile, Cyprus & Nepal.
As well as General Practitioners, A&E specialists and nurses we need a wide range of healthcare professionals. So if you have a relevant qualification, or would like to train to be a medical assistant, we want to hear from you.
Many of our soldiers train in more than one role. Our specialist ambulance drivers are often qualified medical assistants. We also need mechanics, clerks, electricians, chefs and much more... so you'll have the chance to extend your knowledge and expertise into new areas.
Whether you join 253 (North Irish) Medical Regiment as a surgeon or a driver, you'll play an essential part in helping to save lives.
