Born of a long line of historic Fusilier Regiments, The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers upholds the fighting spirit and toughness of fusiliers past. Originally named after the ‘fusil’ – a flintlock musket first carried by its soldiers – the modern Fusiliers are trained in the latest weaponry and operate in Light Infantry and Armoured Infantry roles on vital Operations around the world. At the same time, the Regiment maintains its proud ceremonial duties in London. |

Including Light Infantry, Armoured Battalions and TA soldiers, The Mercian Regiment is a formidable infantry Regiment – a force trained to defeat Britain's enemies on any front. |
With a 300-year history of distinguished service including action everywhere from Waterloo to Dunkirk, and Sierra Leone to Afghanistan, the Royal Irish Regiment’s soldiers – known as ‘Rangers’ – continue to uphold the spirit and professionalism of the Irish soldier as an equally effective fighter and peacekeeper. The last remaining Irish Infantry of the line, 1st Battalion today forms part of 16 Air Assault Brigade – the UK’s high-readiness, early-entry force, operating alongside Apache Attack helicopters and The Parachute Regiment. |
