About us
Tracing its roots back over 330 years, The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment is a proud and famous Infantry Regiment - today comprising of Light Infantry, Mechanised Infantry and Territorial Army battalions. As descendants of the Kings Regiment, our soldiers enjoy the distinction of being known as Kingsmen.
Achieving the status of Kingsman means training in the latest Infantry techniques and equipment – to the highest degree of professionalism.
What we do
Kingsmen are effective in a wide range of Army Operations.
We can travel with stealth, on foot. Operate in support of Armoured and Mechanised Units and sustain high levels of firepower and mobility in Warrior Infantry Fighting Vehicles.
Whatever the environment throws at us, we go forward, delivering shock action and endurance. And we are equally effective in policing urban areas, peacekeeping and providing humanitarian support.
We are a tight-knit team who settle for nothing less than the best. And we’ll look for the same qualities in you during your training in a range of small arms, mortars, anti-tank weaponry and surveillance equipment.
Have you got what it takes?
Reaching the high standards of The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment is a tough yet rewarding challenge. You'll need all of your commitment and determination – and more.
And throughout your career your training will take you in new directions, keep you at the peak of fitness – and give you a sense of achievement that most people in civilian life never reach.
You can choose to join us as either a full-time soldier, or part-time in The 4th Battalion The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment – the only TA Infantry Unit in the North West of England.
Full-time or part-time, all our soldiers have the opportunity to take part in adventure training such as mountaineering and skiing, go on exercises all over the world – and serve on key Operations.
If you want something different and are prepared to push yourself to your limits – then we want to hear from you. Get in touch.
