Regiments

Here’s a brief introduction to some of the regiments we recruit for in the South & South East. You can find out more about these, and the opportunities within other regiments right across the UK, at your local careers office.

Regiment Badge Overview
The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment Known famously as The Tigers, The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment has an ancestry dating back to 1662. Today’s Tigers uphold their longstanding reputation as professional and tenacious Infantry soldiers: the Light Infantry able to deploy at short notice to any environment in the world; the Armoured Infantry operating in Warrior Infantry Fighting Vehicles for increased mobility and firepower. The Regiment is equally as effective in its many peacekeeping and humanitarian support roles.
Army Air Corps The Army Air Corps is the Unit responsible for providing the British military’s Battlefield Helicopter Forces.

Using a wide range of helicopters – including the Mark 9 Lynx, Bell 212 and Westland Apache – the roles of the Army Air Corps include reconnaissance and surveillance, transporting personnel and military hardware, and a considerable attack capability in support of troops and Armoured and Mechanised Infantry Units. The AAC's versatility, speed and flexibility often place the Regiments at the leading edge of operations.
The Rifles Regiment The Rifles Regiment is the Army’s largest Infantry Regiment – and 7th battalion is its only part-time (TA) Unit. Based all around the Home Counties, soldiers train in their spare time in the latest techniques and weaponry to support Regular battalions in Light, Armoured or Mechanised Infantry roles. It’s a job that demands fitness, commitment and quick thinking. Some soldiers specialise as anti-tank teams, signallers, drivers, medics and logisticians. And exercises in environments as diverse as Arctic and desert help ensure the Regiment stays ready to deploy anywhere at short notice.
Corps of Royal Engineers Soldiers first – Royal Engineers are multi-skilled trades people and engineers whose job is to solve tough challenges in Operational, peacekeeping and humanitarian roles all over the world.

Known as Sappers (after the ‘saps’ or trenches they once built), Royal Engineers are at the forefront of Army Operations: bridging rivers, clearing routes through minefields, building and maintaining power supplies – sometimes Commando- or Parachute-trained to deploy forward of main troop positions. Equally vital in all areas, Royal Engineers build roads, camps, runways and much more. A career in the Royal Engineers offers the chance to train in a trade – and to join one of the most respected Corps in the British Army.
Royal Logistics Corps The Royal Logistics Corps maintains vital supplies and equipment to the Army by land and by sea – non-stop – throughout peacetime and conflict. That means delivering ammunition, food, water, weapons, ammunition, fuel… everything the Army needs to function, anywhere in the world. Soldiers first, each member of the Regiment is trained in a skill or trade, including drivers, vehicle electricians, radio operators, chefs, medics, accountants, clerks and much more. The Royal Logistic Corps is the power behind the Army.
Adjutant General’s Corps The organisation offering perhaps the Army’s widest range of careers and jobs, The Adjutant General’s Corps oversees all of the Army’s administrators, police force, education and training personnel, finance, lawyers and legal staff. All are soldiers first and foremost. As well as going everywhere the Army goes, The Adjutant General’s Corps selects administrative staff for British Embassies and High Commissions around the world.
Army Medical Services Army Medical Services is the umbrella administrative body covering the four Corps responsible for the health and welfare of Army personnel: The Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC), The Royal Army Dental Corps (RADC), The Royal Army Veterinary Corps (RAVC) and Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps (QARNC). Day-to-day healthcare, medical training, prevention of disease, evacuation and treatment of the sick or wounded – in these and many other roles, Army Medical Services offer constant, vital support to British soldiers everywhere.
