The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment

About us
The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment traces its history all the way back to a battle honour at Tangier in 1662. Our forbears continued to serve with distinction in every major campaign, winning 57 Victoria Crosses (the latest in 2004) and numerous other awards to become the most decorated Regiment in the Army.

What we do
We are Infantry soldiers: modern and highly trained, with a fine reputation to maintain.

Operating in both Light Infantry and Armoured Infantry roles, we provide a diverse and flexible fighting force. Equipped with a range of arms including SA80 rifles, Minimi light machine guns, mortars, anti-tank weaponry and surveillance equipment, our Light Infantry soldiers can deploy at very short notice to operate in any environment: mountain, jungle, forest, urban and desert.

Travelling in Warrior Infantry Fighting Vehicles – capable of engaging targets at 2000m with 30mm cannon – our Armoured soldiers provide extra mobility and firepower.

Renowned as exceptional fighters and peacekeepers alike, our Regular and part-time (TA) soldiers have deployed on Operations to places such as Cyprus, Iraq and Afghanistan in recent years.

Our indomitable spirit is reflected in our nickname – The Tigers.

Have you got what it takes?
Reaching the high standards of a British Infantry soldier is a tough and rewarding challenge – needing all of your commitment and determination.

Your training will be the best. You will aim to achieve the peak of your fitness and become an expert in the latest weapons, including rifles, machine guns, mortars and other specialist Infantry weapons.

You will develop a sense of achievement that most people in civilian life never reach. And you will become part of a professional, close-knit team able to depend on each other in any situation. You’ll make friends for life.

Full-time or part-time, all our soldiers have the opportunity to train in places such as Kenya, Canada, Belize and the Falkland Islands. So if you want something different and you’ve got what it takes to become a Tiger – we want to hear from you.
