Taking that first step into our office might seem daunting, but we’ll soon put you at ease.
We all have similar reasons for becoming soldiers: the adventure and excitement, travel, promotion and pay. It’s the kind of lifestyle many civilians can only dream of. And we’ve all achieved promotions and gained qualifications that are recognised by civilian employers.

Stepping into our office for the first time might seem daunting – but we’re here to make you feel relaxed and welcome.
From learning a trade to facing new challenges, to adventure training and overseas travel – each team member has plenty to tell you about their Army career. So this is your chance to get some firsthand tips about life as a soldier – and all the things that could be in store for you. Come along and we’ll tell you more.
When you get here
Expect us to be in uniform – so we’re easily recognised. But it doesn’t matter if you turn up in work clothes or jeans. We’re more interested in learning a bit about you, so one of the team will sit you down and chat about the things you’d like to do. We want to find out if the Army really is for you, and give you an idea of all the jobs available: chefs, tank crewmen, nurses, vehicle mechanics, electricians and a lot more.
Ask us anything
The obvious questions are about the training, career opportunities, operations, what the pay’s like and where you’ll live. Whatever you want to know, we’ve got the answers.
What happens next?
Your first chat will give you loads to think about. And if you want to pop back in to talk some more, you’re more than welcome. Then, if you want to take things further, we’ll weigh and measure you to check your Body Mass Index (BMI). Then arrange a formal interview for you and give you an Army Contact form, an Army DVD and your application pack to take away. We can also arrange your British Army Recruitment Battery (BARB) test.
