Aberystwyth
Taking that first step into our office might seem daunting, but we’ll soon put you at ease.
We all have similar reasons for becoming soldiers: the adventure and excitement, travel, promotion and pay. It’s the kind of lifestyle many civilians can only dream of. And we’ve all achieved promotions and gained qualifications that are recognised by civilian employers.
When you come in, you’ll meet one of our friendly team of soldiers who will tell you about the challenges they’ve faced, the faraway places they’ve visited and all the adventurous training they’ve enjoyed. So for some firsthand advice, don’t hesitate to come along.
When you get here
As you’d expect, we’ll be in uniform – but we’re more interested in who you are than what you’re wearing. One of us will chat with you about your interests. At this stage you won’t know if the Army is the right choice for you. So we’ll simply tell you about the wide variety of jobs you could go for – such as chef, tank crew, nurse, vehicle mechanic, electrician and so on – and give you a feel for Army life in general.
Ask us anything
Naturally, you’ll want to know about the training, your career prospects, opportunities for travel, how much you’ll earn… and much more besides. Ask away! That’s what we’re here for.
What happens next?
You’ll have plenty to think about after your first visit, and might want to come back to talk some more. But if you want to go to the next stage, we’ll first weigh and measure you to check your Body Mass Index (BMI). Then arrange a formal interview for you and give you an Army Contact form, an Army DVD and your application pack to take away. We can also arrange your British Army Recruitment Battery (BARB) test.
Get the most from your meeting
